MISSOURI STATE FINAL FOUR TEAMS
The 1966 Lindbergh Boys Basketball team was the first team in Lindbergh history to make it to the state tournament. The team would post a 22-6 record, posting 18 of those wins on the road. The '66 team won the Suburban League title that year as well. Coached by Lou Lorch and led by one of Lindbergh's greats in George Faerber, this team averaged 64 points per game while holding its opponents to 56 points per game.
The 1967 team would repeat the performance of the previous year by visiting the state tournament again. In George Faerber's final season as a Flyer, the '67 team would post a record of 25-4 with an 11-1 mark in the league as league champs. Coach Lou Lorch would lead his second team to the state tournament and finish 4th.
Arguably the best team in Lindbergh history, the 1970 Flyers would enter state undefeated with a 29-0 mark only to fall short in the semi-final game and end the season with 30 wins and 1 blemish to their record. Led by Gary Link and Steve Blind, the high octane offense of the '70 Flyers would set many team records including scoring the most points in a game (100) and averaging the most points per game (70). This would be Coach Lorch's 3rd and last team to reach the state tournament as they would win yet another league title by going undefeated. Gary Link set two individual records this season (Points in a Season - 706 & Most Free Throws Made - 158) while guard Greg Fingerhut would also set two individual records (Most assists in a game (15) and most assists in a season (204)).
Taking the Flyer Nation on a great post-season ride, the 2006-2007 team achieved its pre-season goal of playing in Columbia. The team entered post-season play with a 12-11 record, but the Flyers were on a roll after also capturing the conference title as well. No matter what the odds, this team simply believed they could win. With 8 seniors (5 of them starters) the Flyers would finish fourth after dropping their semi-final contest to eventual state champion McCluer North. This team returned Lindbergh to the state tournament for the first time in over 30 years and helped bring a tremendous amount of spirit and pride to LHS.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
George Faerber - 1964 to 1967 Perhaps the greatest Flyer basketball player of all time, George Faerber would continue on to play at Purdue University and became an All-American while playing against the great Kareem Abdul Jabbar and UCLA in the Final Four. After playing, Faerber was an assistant coach at Purdue for 8 years. Faerber's name is etched on many individual records and he would also lead the '66 and '67 teams to the state tournament. Faerber leads in 7 of the 13 career record categories and also holds the single game scoring record of 52 points (he would also pull down 32 rebounds that game as well). Faerber's number 54 was retired in the rafters during the 2007-2008 season on January 15, 2008.
